(July 24, 2010) - The AMA Pro SuperSport riders put on quite a show today in the action packed 18 lap race here at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix event. Riding his LTD Racing Yamaha with an engine that hadn't turned a lap until the warm-up lap, Huntley Nash endured a red flag race stoppage and relentless pressure from Top Gun rider Tyler O'Hara and went on to take his second career AMA Pro SuperSport win.

O'Hara, riding his Radio Medics Yamaha, led the early stages of the race prior to the red flag and had an unfortunate fall in turn nine as he was working on lap 15, ending his day. But he wasn't the only one to suffer an accident in today's action packed race in front of a capacity crowd here at Laguna Seca.

The biggest heartbreak was for Pole Position winner Tomas Puerta. At the start, Puerta was beaten into turn two by O'Hara and as the field went into the right hand turn three, Puerta's LTD Racing Yamaha took a big twitch, he tried to save it but to no avail. A number of riders took avoiding action including fourth starting Cameron Beaubier who was riding his own Mazda Technologies Rockwall Yamaha. As the field continued around to complete lap one, Joey Pascarella shot off the road in turn nine and although he was able to rejoin, he was well back.

The next rider to meet misfortune was Beaubier who slid down as he entered the famous corkscrew turn and although he was able to quickly get right up, his Yamaha was too badly damaged to continue. This brought out the red flag after five laps had been completed. Prior to the red flag, Elena Myers had a great start and shot up into third and although there was a number of riders right behind her including James Rispoli, Austin DeHaven and Scott Gilbert, Myers was unflappable as she held station in third despite the constant pressure.

At the restart, Huntley Nash took the lead as O'Hara ran inches behind Nash and looked for a way by. But Nash was up to the challenge and he used the knowledge gained earlier in the weekend when he and LTD Racing team chief Gary Medley went up to the Corkscrew and discussed where and how he should attack that vital part of the racetrack.

The battle came to an end when O'Harawent down and it was a disappointing end to another very strong AMA Pro SuperSport outing for the young rider who had taken a couple of podium finishes as a Top Gun entry earlier in the season. Finishing second and third today were DeHaven on his family run Yamaha and also Gilbert on his Team Graves Yamaha.

Both rider were part of the early battles up front and after the red flag, both ran smart races to take second and third respectively. DeHaven was delighted with his finish and enjoyed his experience racing with the AMA Pro SuperSport regulars. Gilbert also continued to impress, adding to his two podium finishes from earlier this year at Auto Club Speedway.

The highlight of the day was the intense battle between Elena Myers and James Rispoli. After the red flag, they battled back and forth with Myers on her Lucas Oil Roadracingworld.com Suzuki passing Rispoli, only to have the Rispoli re-pass her before the end of the lap on his Ant-Racing.com Yamaha. On the last turn of the last lap, the two came out of the hard left hand final corner and in a sensational launch to the line, Myers just was able to pass Rispoli for fourth place. Rispoli, who has been riding extremely well himself in both AMA Pro Road Racing and AMA Pro Flat Track competition, where he is currently third in the Pro Singles championship hunt, won the SunTrust Improve Your Position Award for his performance at the recent Mid-Ohio SuperSport race.

With so many of the frontrunners having problems, there was a host of worthy names in the top ten including David Gaviria on his Kawasaki, Bryce Prince on his Yamaha, Matthew Sadowski (Suzuki), Travis Ohge (Yamaha) and Michael Corbino, who rounded out the top ten. Towards the end of the race, Gaviria and Sadowski were battling hard and also were Prince and Ohge. All rode well on a difficult and action packed day.

Please visit www.amaproracing.com for the full finishing order from today's race.

AMA Pro Racing is the premier professional motorcycle racing organization in North America, operating a full schedule of events and championships for a variety of motorcycle disciplines. (July 23, 2010) - Day one is complete for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix weekend here at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif. All three AMA Pro Road Racing classes held practice sessions, in addition to the MotoGP action.

In National Guard SuperBike practice, Tommy Hayden and his Rockstar Makita Suzuki waited until almost the end of the 50 minute practice session to knock Josh Hayes off the top spot. Hayes had set the pace for the majority of the first practice session. Hayden, racing this weekend along with his two brothers at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix Weekend, popped in a quick lap of 1:24.988/94.799 MPH. Hayes was next up with a 1:25.263/94.494 MPH around the 2.238-mile natural road course. Impressing once again, M4 Monster Energy Suzuki rider Jake Holden posted the third fastest time of 1:25.388/94.355 MPH.

"The track felt pretty normal to me," Hayden commented on his day. "It was what I remember from last year. I was happy with the track. We tried a couple different bikes with different settings, something similar to what we ran last year and something like we have been running lately. I evaluated the two Suzukis and tried to get a direction for tomorrow. The lap time was pretty good, there are a couple of areas out there that hopefully we can improve on and make things a little easier and we can get a little faster. But overall it's a good start to the weekend."

The National Guard SuperBikes have two qualifying sessions tomorrow in preparation for Sunday's 23 lap race, which will go green at 3:45 p.m. local time.

In AMA Pro Daytona SportBike, points leader Josh Herrin continued his fast form of late and posted the fastest time on his Team Graves Yamaha. Herrin, coming off a win last weekend at Mid-Ohio (race one), set the bar pretty high with a stellar time of 1:28.483/91.055 MPH. No one else was in the 1:28 minute range.

"It was awesome," Herrin said. "We went out and tried to shake down the bike we crashed at Mid-Ohio but I didn't really like it so we went out on the back-up bike and did three laps and then right away we were fastest. Then we went a little quicker but then the red flag came out and we were expecting to end the session right there. We put a new set of Dunlops on and went out and I did the best time I could. It just came really, really easily on the first flyer. I was really impressed with the track and how clean it was, it was an awesome session and I can't wait to get back out there tomorrow."

The 23 lap Daytona SportBike final will kick off at 10:25 a.m. local time on Sunday.

In AMA Pro SuperSport, Austin DeHaven from Los Angeles, Calif. posted the quickest time on his DeHaven Yamaha with a lap of 1:30.479/89.046 MPH. DeHaven is taking part in his first SuperSport race since earlier this year when he ran in the two races at Infineon Raceway. In that event, DeHaven placed fifth and fourth respectively in the doubleheader event back in May.

Newly crowned AMA SuperSport Young Gun West Divisional Champion Joey Pascarella rode his DNA Energy Drink Yamaha to second quickest with a time of 1:30.762/88.769 MPH. Pascarella and DeHaven were the only riders in the 1:30 range. Taking third was two time SuperSport winner this year Cameron Beaubier riding his Mazda Technologies/Rockwall Yamaha. Beaubier posted a lap of 1:31.144/88.396 MPH.

Final Qualifying and the 18 lap SuperSport race will be tomorrow Saturday, July 24. The green flag is scheduled to fly at 5:30 p.m. local time.

Don't miss the action from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on SPEED TV, late Sunday, early Monday July 26 at 12:00 midnight a.m. (9 p.m. PT).

Please visit www.mazdaraceway.com for full schedule and ticket information.

AMA Pro Racing is the premier professional motorcycle racing organization in North America, operating a full schedule of events and championships for a variety of motorcycle disciplines. (July 20, 2010) - The exciting AMA Pro SuperSport class will show the world just how bright the future is for American motorcycle racing with another race in this year's AMA Pro SuperSport Championship at the July 23-25, 2010 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

The Young Gun class will be racing in company with the World Championship MotoGP event. One key element will be missing though, as last weekend's double winner J.D. Beach will not be competing in the West Division race. Beach currently leads the East Division point standings over Rockwall Performance Yamaha teammate Cameron Beaubier, who will be racing this weekend. Beaubier will be racing out of his division as he did earlier in the year when he won the Infineon Raceway SuperSport race in May.

Newly crowned West Division Champion Joey Pascarella will be racing at Laguna Seca with a clear mission in mind. Now that he has clinched his Divisional points crown, he is only focused on winning at a track that is one of his favorites. Pascarella and his DNA Energy Drink CNR Motorsports team enjoyed a successful Sunday at Mid-Ohio in clinching his Divisional points title with his sixth place finish.

Another rider who is looking forward to returning to the West Coast is Lucas Oil Roadracingworld.com Suzuki rider Elena Myers. Myers, who hales from Discovery Bay, California, made history earlier this year when she took a well deserved and hard fought victory at the Infineon Raceway event back in May. Myers ran a spectacular race at Infineon and won the race with skill and speed right from the drop of the green flag; she took everything the other top riders in SuperSport could throw at her but she would not be denied and won the race in very convincing fashion to make history in AMA Pro motorcycle racing with the first sprint race professional win for a female rider. Her win was a truly significant event that she backed up the next day by again riding straight to the front when late in the race she was caught up in another rider's overzealous passing attempt. Myers is in second place in the West Division points, well ahead of third place.

The main protagonists for the Rockwall Performance Yamaha team have been the LTD Racing Yamaha team. Run by racing legend Gary Medley, young riders Huntley Nash, Tomas Puerta and Jake Gagne have all been part of the close racing this year in SuperSport. Gagne, who last competed with LTD Racing at Infineon rejoins the team fresh off of his recent win in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup race at Sachsenring during the German motorcycle GP. Nash won at Road America last month and Puerta continues to accumulate podium finishes as he sits third in East Division points behind only Beach and Beaubier and one point ahead of his teammate Nash.

Another West Coast rider who is rejoining the series is Scott Gilbert on his Team Graves Yamaha. Gilbert had a couple of podium finishes at Auto Club Speedway earlier in the year and also ran well at Infineon. Tyler O'Hara is another rider who raced at Infineon earlier this year and took a couple of podium fishes himself. O'Hara and his GP Bike Parts Mach 1 Yamaha will race in the Top Gun category which enables local riders who posses an Expert Level License from an accredited Road Racing organization to enter and race under the halo of an AMA Pro Road racing event.

Practice begins on Friday, July 23rd, Qualifying and the SuperSport race will be on Saturday, July 24th. The other AMA Pro Road Racing classes along with the MotoGP races will also be taking place during the July 23-25 weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Please visit www.mazdaraceway.com for full schedule and ticket information.
AMA Pro Racing is the premier professional motorcycle racing organization in North America, operating a full schedule of events and championships for a variety of motorcycle disciplines. explains Pascarella. “We knew if we finished ahead of Elena Myers, we could take the title and that was our goal. Everything went according to plan and I couldn’t be more pumped.
Crozier Roberson Motorsports is a really good team and DNA Energy Drink is a great sponsor. It is really awesome to bring both of them this Championship. Now that we have the title locked up, we can go for the win at Laguna Seca and I’m definitely looking forward to that.”

For Bobby Fong, Mid-Ohio also proved to be an outstanding weekend as he took back-to-back podium finishes for the team in both AMA Pro Daytona SportBike races.

“We finally got the monkey off our back and showed what we can do,” said an obviously elated Fong, who earned a second on Saturday and a third on Sunday. “Those are my best finishes in this series to date. The team gave me an incredible Ducati. It ran flawlessly all weekend. They really out did themselves. I want to congratulate Joey for winning the SuperSport West crown.”

Adding additional words of praise was teammate Michael Beck who unfortunately didn’t have as good a weekend as Fong and Pascarella.

“This was just one of those ‘that’s racing’ weekends,” said Beck. “I got a good start today and was already moving up through the field when we had a mechanical that put us out of the race. But, we will be ready for Monterey and that should be a good one for us.”

“Getting two podium finishes and a championship, all is one weekend, is unbelievable,” smiles co-team owner Robbie Roberson. We had hoped to do well this time out, but I didn’t dream the weekend would be this spectacular. It is amazing.”

“I am so proud of everyone on this team, said team manager and co-owner Mark Crozier. “They did an outstanding job. All the long hours and their determination definitely paid off. Things are good and I know there is more to come. Both Robbie and I want to thank all our sponsors who made winning the title possible, especially DNA Energy Drink. Beach and his Rockwall Performance Yamaha teammate Cameron Beaubier once again ran away from the field in today's AMA Pro SuperSport race at the Honda Super Cycle Weekend Presented by Dunlop Tire at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

This time, Beach had to battle back from fourth place as the field swept into the first turn but once he took the lead on lap four, he was never headed again and swept to a 12.942 second victory over Beaubier and LTD Racing Yamaha rider Huntley Nash.

Nash and Beaubier were the only other riders to lead any laps in the 17 lap race. Nash had a great start and held the point until Beaubier passed him on the second lap. Beaubier only led two laps himself as Beach re-established himself in what was, for the Mid-Ohio weekend, his rightful position at the front. Beach showed real domination in the ultra-close SuperSport field.

The Mid-Ohio SuperSport event was a combined East and West Divisional Young Gun event and with his sixth place finish today, Joey Pascarella clinched the West Division Young Gun Championship with 172 points. Pascarella has won three races on his way to the Divisional title, one win at the season opener at Daytona and two at Auto Club Speedway. Pascarella and his DNA Energy Drink Yamaha now head to the last West Division race next week in California with the title in hand.

"I love Laguna Seca," said Pascarella as he and his CNR Motorsports team celebrated in the pit lane at the conclusion of today's race. " Now I can race for the win without worrying about points."

Beaubier was once again the only rider with anything for Beach but as the race went on he consolidated his position and took another second place, the second one-two finish in a row for the Rockwall Performance team this weekend, their third this year.

Nash and his LTD Racing teammate, Tomas Puerta, battled with yesterday's third place finisher, Dustin Dominguez and like yesterday, Dominguez showed great speed and racecraft as he battled with the duo.

Unlike yesterday, Nash was able to get by Dominguez for third place and then Puerta moved Dominguez down one more spot to fifth on the last lap. Pascarella took sixth, followed by James Rispoli on his ANT-Racing.com Suzuki and Elena Myers on her Lucas Oil Roadracingworld.com Suzuki who again battled with Rispoli, Travis Wyman on his Yamaha and also Pascarella. Wyman took ninth and Miles Thornton rounded out the top ten on his Yamaha.

Beaubier showed his speed by steadily running down the surprising Dustin Dominguez and stayed in touch with Beach in the East Division SuperSport Young Gun championship.

Dominguez rejoined AMA Pro SuperSport for the first time in 2010. Dominguez had posted a SuperSport win last year at Auto Club Speedway and until this weekend had been riding his Kawasaki in his home state of Oklahoma and Texas in some club road races.

Behind the front three there was racing galore. Front row starters Joey Pascarella on his DNA Energy Drink Yamaha and Huntley Nash riding a LTD Racing Yamaha were in the middle of numerous battles all day long with Pascarella suffering a slow start but foughting back gamely and adding to his West Division leading points total with a seventh place finish. Nash ran second at the start but was run down by Dominguez and then Nash engaged in a number of battles, first with his LTD Racing Yamaha teammate Tomas Puerta, then with James Rispoli on his ANT-Racing.com Suzuki, as well as Beaubier.

Puerta took fourth and continues his incredible run of top five finishes. Rispoli had a great day too, mixing it up with the front runners again. Infineon winner Elena Myers on her Lucas Oil Roadracingworld.com Suzuki had another solid day as she battled with Travis Wyman (Yamaha), Rispoli and then with Pascarella. Myers took a fighting eighth place after starting tenth. She trails only Pascarella in the West Division Young Gun points race.

Travis Wyman finished ninth as he and his brother both competed in the SuperSport race today. Hayden posted a lap of 1:25.637/100.891 MPH around the 2.4-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to take the provisional pole position. Hayes was the first rider to dip into the 1:25 second range with a lap of 1:25.649/100.877 MPH and was only bested by Hayden.

Taking a fighting third place on the provisional grid for the doubleheader race weekend was Foremost Insurance Ducati rider and local favorite, Larry Pegram. Pegram was consistently fast from the drop of the green flag and he also waited for the end of the session to set his best time of 1:26.179/100.256 MPH. Ben Bostrom was next up on his Pat Clark Motorsports Yamaha with a time of 1:26.184/100.251 MPH. Final qualifying will be Saturday morning at 9:30 AM.

In Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL, another points leader stole the spotlight with Josh Herrin posting his fastest lap on his 19th (of 20) lap of qualifying. Herrin, riding his Team Graves Yamaha was the only rider to get into the 1:28 second range with his lap of 1:28.732/97.372 MPH. Herrin, who has three wins in 2010 and one pole position, has started on the front row in every race this season and currently leads the points over the man he beat to the provisional pole position today, GEICO Powersports Suzuki rider and last year's pole sitter and race winner, Danny Eslick.

Eslick had set the early pace in the first qualifying session and then laid down a quick lap in the closing moments of qualifying until Herrin shot to the top of the time sheets. Eslick's lap of 1:29.167/96.897 MPH looked like the time to beat and he did have one last shot at Herrin but didn't get the lap he was looking for.

Steve Rapp, riding the Team Latus Motors Ducati, once again showed his speed and skill by running quick early and then also posting a strong lap of 1:29.588/96.442 MPH which held up with only Herrin and Eslick besting his effort. Taking fourth was Martin Cardenas on his M4 Monster Energy Suzuki with a time of 1:29.458/96.582 MPH. Cardenas had held the top spot at one point during the session and he rallied strongly to post his best lap on his 19th lap of qualifying. Cardenas has five wins this year and is in third place in points.

In the AMA Pro SuperSport Young Gun class, the issue of fastest qualifier was also settled at the very end of the 40 minute session. The top spot in the session was held by no less than five riders and, in a mad dash to get back on the track and set a time, J.D. Beach made a late change to his Rockwall Yamaha and left the pits with little over two minutes left. He had been trading the top spot with not only his Rockwall Yamaha teammate, Cameron Beaubier and LTD Yamaha teammates Huntley Nash and Tomas Puerta but also three-time race winner Joey Pascarella on his DNA Energy Drink CNR Yamaha.

Beach posted a sensational lap of 1:30.652/95.309 MPH, just ahead of Beaubier who was the only other rider in the 1:30 range with his lap of 1:30.849./95.103 MPH. After all the fireworks, Nash, winner of the most recent AMA Pro SuperSport race at Road America, set a 1:31.432/94.496 MPH, just ahead of Pascarella with his 1:31.630/94.292 MPH. The battle will be rejoined early tomorrow morning in SuperSport with final qualifying set for 8:00 AM Saturday morning.

Please visit www.amaproracing.comfor further information and full time sheets.
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (June 6, 2010) - Huntley Nash took his first AMA Pro Road Racing victory today in the final AMA Pro SuperSport race of the Suzuki SuperBike Doubleheader Weekend at Elkhart Lake's Road America. Nash, riding his LTD Racing Yamaha, took a hard fought win in the second SuperSport race of the weekend, finishing 0.200 of a second over Saturday's race one winner, J.D. Beach on his Rockwall Yamaha. Nash led six of 10 laps on his way to his first professional victory in the ultra competitive AMA Pro SuperSport Young Gun class.

Rebounding from his last lap crash in yesterday's race, Nash battled with Beach and his LTD Yamaha teammate Tomas Puerta for the entire 10 lap race. Puerta led one lap officially but due to the nature of the scenic 4.05-mile Road America course, all of the frontrunners held the lead at one point or another. Puerta took a well deserved third as he and Nash tried to slipstream together in an effort to pull out some margin of distance from the rest of the SuperSport field.

Beach and his pole-position starting Rockwall Yamaha teammate Cameron Beaubier looked set to take the fight to the LTD Yamaha duo but Beaubier dropped back at the start and although at times he was right in the thick of things, he fell back to sixth at the flag. Another group of riders that put on a great show behind the lead group were Miles Thornton riding his Yamaha, local Top Gun entry David Gaviria on his Kawasaki and James Rispoli who finished fifth on the track but was later penalized due to a technical infraction found during post race inspection and had to forfeit his prize money. Thorton, Rispoli, Beaubier and Gaviria swapped positions throughout the race and at many points around the track. In the early stages of the race, Infineon SuperSport race winner Elena Myers also mixed up with this group on her Lucas Oil Roadracingworld.com RMR Suzuki but her day came to an unfortunate end at the difficult Canada Corner.

The first three riders broke away with Beach and Nash exchanging the lead again and again. Nash made his final move as he dove past Beach into the lead at Canada Corner on the last lap and held him off through the last two turns and up the long hill to the finish line. Nash has had a number of podium finishes this year and has been showing excellent speed and poise as he makes his run at the SuperSport Young Gun title. This was a well deserved and popular win for him. Beach extends his East Division points lead to 139. Beaubier and Puerta are next up with 117 points and Nash is just one point back with 116.

Highlights from today's SuperSport race will be shown during tonight's AMA Pro National Guard American SuperBike broadcast, scheduled to air late tonight/early tomorrow morning on SPEED at 12 a.m. midnight ET (9 p.m. PT).

The next AMA Pro SuperSport race will be at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Mansfield, Ohio on July 16-18.
