Pascarella Victor of AMA Pro SuperSport Race Two at Daytona International Speedway

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (March 5, 2010) - After Thursday's unbelievable AMA Pro SuperSport race, where Joey Pascarella lost by 0.001 of a second, Pascarella, on his No. 25 LTD Racing Yamaha YZF-R6 came back to take a well judged victory in the second of two 2010 AMA Pro Racing SuperSport races held at the legendary Daytona International Speedway, this time winning by over a second at the flag.

In a podium sweep, Pascarella's LTD Yamaha YZF-R6 teammates No. 32 Jake Gagne and No. 12 Tomas Puerta took second and third after battling the entire 12 lap race with yesterday's winner No. 16 Cameron Beaubier and his teammate No. 73 J.D. Beach on their Rockwall Yamaha YZF-R6's.

Beach, who looked like a likely winner yesterday was again denied victory when he encountered a mechanical problem forcing him out of the race on lap seven. That left Beaubier alone at the front against the LTD Yamaha teammates. Lap after lap, they all took shots at Pascarella, but he was very strong under braking for turn one and fought off every charge. Behind the lead group, No. 75 Huntley Nash on his Yamaha YZF-R6, No. 82 Daniel Guevara riding a Suzuki GSX-R600 and the again impressive Elena Myers on her No. 21 Suzuki GSX-R600 enjoyed a furious battle lap after lap, with Guevara eventually getting by Huntley Nash and Myers to finish fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.

Pulling wheelies out of the chicane onto the back banking, Gagne, Puerta and Beaubier got close to Pascarella, but only Puerta was able to head Pascarella, when he officially led lap six. Going into the last lap, it looked like another photo finish but this time for second, as Joey Pascarella took a well deserved first place. Beaubier was second with Gagne and Puerta right behind and after another big drafting move, Gagne ended up second over Puerta, with Beaubier finishing fourth. Guevara finished a fine fifth followed by Myers. Sam Nash, racing in the Top Gun class, finished eighth on his No. 44 Yamaha YZF-R6, No. 77 Honda CBR600RR Top Gun rider Eric Stump II finished ninth and Ryan Kerr took tenth on his No. 28 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.

This year's AMA Pro SuperSport season got off to a unbelievable start Thursday and Friday's race showed that the LTD and Rockwall Yamaha teams will be tough to beat. With the impressive Myers, Guevara and Huntley Nash close behind, the championship is wide open.

Highlights from each round of AMA Pro SuperSport can be seen in back-to-back broadcasts of the week's AMA Pro National Guard American SuperBike races Saturday night on SPEED starting at 10:30 p.m. ET.

Next on the schedule for AMA Pro Road Racing is Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California over the March 26 - 28 weekend.

PASCARELLA WINS DAYTONA AND LTD RACERS SWEEP THE PODIUM

Daytona, Florida (March 5, 2009) – LTD Racing’s Joey Pascarella won the AMA Pro SuperSport race on Friday, leading an impressive team sweep of the Daytona International Speedway podium as Jake Gagne and Tomas Puerta finished second and third. Pascarella pulled away from the pack in the closing stages of the 12-lap race and Gagne and Puerta made passes on the final lap to join their teammate on the rostrum at Daytona.

Huntley Nash overcame running wide early in the race to finish sixth and Sam Nash was the highest-ranked“Top Gun” in his first weekend of competition with the LTD Racing team.

Pascarella showed blazing speed all weekend, wining pole and leading most of the race on Thursday before taking his first AMA Pro win on Friday. The Vacaville, California resident picked the grand stage of the historic Daytona International Speedway to shine.

“I got out front and tried to ride consistent and smart,” said Joey. “Tomas came by me once and Cameron (Beaubier) tried to get me into turn one once, but I was able to keep the lead. The last three laps I pushed really hard and tried to hold everyone off. It worked and I was able to get the win.”

Jake Gagne finished second to complete his double podium weekend. Gagne made his way around Thursday race victor Cameron Beaubier on the final lap, then Jake managed to hold off a last-second challenge from
teammate Tomas Puerta at the line to earn his best result yet in AMA Pro competition.

“Joey got away with a couple of laps to go,” said the Ramona, California racer. “He’s been really fast all weekend. We tried to work together and catch up but we couldn’t. Then my plan was to be behind Cameron on the last lap because I thought I could draft pass him before the line and that’s what happened.”

Puerta’s smart and strong race saw him take the final podium spot. The Colombian racer ran with the lead pack and even led one lap. He nearly took second with a charge at the end but came up just short. Puerta
earned his second AMA Pro podium result. “My strategy was to try being in first or second position in today’s race to set things up for the last lap. I was able to push hard at the end get a good draft at the line. I was close to getting Jake at the end and happy for LTD Racing to get three riders on the podium.”

Huntley Nash was sixth again in race two, a very solid result. But the Georgian left Daytona disappointed in his race weekend after entering with high expectations. “I got out wide early on lost a few places and that was it. I was out of it for the win and the podium. We finished both races but it wasn’t what I had hoped for from the weekend,” said the 17 year-old. “I’m looking forward to the next one.”

Sam Nash earned 8th overall and won the “Top Gun” class by 12 seconds. “It was fun and I had a good time. To have a good race and finish eighth, I accomplished my goal for the weekend. I couldn’t be happier and I am really looking forward to riding the bike next time,” Sam said.

Next round of AMA Supersport racing will be held at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana California, on March 26th through 28th. Joey Pascarella will be contending for the West Coast Championship. While Huntley Nash, Jake Gagne and Tomas Puerta will be contending for the East Coast Championship.

PASCARELLA, GAGNE EARN THE PODIUM IN DAYTONA RACE ONE FOR LTD RACING

Daytona, Florida (March 4, 2009) -- Thursday’s AMA Pro SuperSport battle on the high banks of the Daytona International Speedway saw the LTD Racing teammates battle for the win Four LTD Racing teammates
finished in the top six, with Joey Pascarella and Jake Gagne finishing second and third. Tomas Puerta and Huntley Nash took fifth and sixth, respectively.

Much of the race saw seven riders battling for the lead and a pack of five riders fought for the win on the final lap.

Pascarella nearly won the race. Joey put together an excellent 12-lap event that showcased his skills and strategy and he led as the field came to the checkered flag. But Pascarella missed out on the win by
just 0.001 as Cameron Beaubier drafted past to take the victory, relegating Joey to second place in the SuperSport season-opener for the second year in a row.

The finish was so close it required the officials to call for the photo finish equipment to determine which rider crossed the line first.

“It was a good race and I really wanted to win it. I was hoping to break away in the early laps but that was some great racing out there,” said Pascarella, from Vacaville, California.

“I was leading at the start of the last lap but I let Cameron, who happened to be in second place, get ahead of me for the banking. That was my strategy, I’m not going to lie about it,” he laughed. “I was
hoping to draft past him and I did, but he was able to come back and get me. We didn’t know who won at first but congratulations to him. Maybe tomorrow we can come back and get the win. I’d like to thank LTD
    Racing and all my sponsors.”

Jake Gagne earned third place with his strong run, crossing the line just 0.065 behind the winner. Gagne was never far from the lead, but he did misplay the chicane in the closing laps and dropped down to
fifth place. Excellent strategy and hard riding earned him a podium spot as the Ramona, California resident outfoxed J.D. Beach and Tomas Puerta by taking the perfect line on the final lap.

“It was a crazy race,” said Jake. “On the last lap, I got a good draft and kept my head down. My strategy was to wait until the end and make my move and I wasn’t ever very far from the front. I made the one
mistake where I ran wide but I was able to make up the ground to the leaders.” The result was Gagne’s first AMA podium finish.

Colombian Tomas Puerta led the event and was disappointed not to finish on the podium after earning the top five once again. Tomy lists Daytona as one of his favorite circuits and has a great history at Daytona. “I wanted to win the race but the last lap did not go my way. I liked the race, I just did not like the last lap. I was trying to run a smart race and I was battling J.D. (Beach) for fourth place. I passed him but Gagne got both of us and he took the good line got the drive. Then J.D. passed me again. We’ll get them tomorrow!” Puerta was 0.0267 back at the finish.

Huntley Nash gained sixth place on the day and improved his lap times during the event while battling with the top competitors. “That was a really fun race and the most fun I have had in a while. It was
awesome,” said the Marietta, Georgia native. “On the start, I got behind a couple of riders and lost some ground. I knew I couldn’t afford to lose too much to the leaders, so  I made a charge. About four laps into it, I got back up to fifth and right there with the leaders. I used up a lot of the tire making up ground, and I lost a little time in the last couple of laps as the grip went off. We made some progress and we’re looking to improve some more tomorrow.” Huntley was just 4.882 off the lead at the checkered flag.

Sam Nash had a good run going and looked to accomplish his goal of finishing in the top ten of an AMA National. He was inside the top ten when his bike developed a problem with his bike's shifter that forced
him to retire. “It was going well for me out there and I looked back to see the rider I had been battling with had crashed out. I had a good lead on the next rider, but then we had a problem and I had to pull in the pits. We’ve got another shot at it and I plan to take full advantage of it. This weekend has been a lot of fun and I have a good challenge in front of me for tomorrow.”

The final AMA Pro SuperSport race of the weekend will be held tomorrow, March 5th at 3 PM.

Beaubier Wins AMA Pro SuperSport Race One at the Line in Opening Race at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (March 4, 2010) - From the drop of the green flag until the last lap, the opening round of the 2010 AMA Pro Racing SuperSport Championship provided non-stop action during the opening day of racing during the Daytona 200 Week. AMA Pro Racing rookie Cameron Beaubier took his first victory by an amazing 0.001 of a second, just beating Joey Pascarella as they battled side by side all the way to the finish line.  Also taking advantage of the furious drafting on the final lap was Jake Gagne who took third, setting an all-Yamaha YZF-R6 podium in the kick-off race for the 2010 AMA Pro Road Racing season at Daytona International Speedway.

Under clear but cool conditions, the field was led by Pascarella, J.D. Beach, Beaubier and Gagne.  Tomas Puerta, Hunter Nash, Elana Myers and Daniel Guevara made up the second row and all soon joined in a seven-bike train after the start.  Pascarella fell back momentarily but by the end of lap one he was back into the lead.  A furious battle then continued as Pascarella, Beach and Beaubier swapped the lead back and forth.  Lap after lap, one would be leading as they crossed the start-finish line and another would take the lead going into turn one under fierce braking.  On lap four, with with the lead pack in a tight draft, Beach shot into the lead and looked like a real contender for the win.  Puerta got a huge draft and took the lead on lap eight, leading until Pascarella regained the top spot while the group literally battled inches apart on the high banks of Daytona.

By lap 10, the first five started to break away from the pack as Myers and Guevara continued their impressive runs just behind the lead group.  On the penultimate lap, Gagne missed the chicane and drove through with no gain or loss of position, rejoining the battle as the group ran back up the banking into the tri-oval for the last lap.  Pascarella dove into the lead going into the last lap, and he and Beaubier fought it out.  As they came into sight of the finish line, the duo were side by side for a photo finish.  Each thought that the other had won and ultimately, the margin of victory for Beaubier was 0.001 seconds, the closest finish in the history of AMA Pro Racing.  Review of the high-speed photo finish camera system showed what appeared to be less than two inches difference.

Joyous in victory lane, Beaubier's was still amazed that he had earned his first AMA Pro Racing victory.  Pascarella was gracious in defeat, losing by 0.001 of a second isn't all bad and he has every right to be pleased with his performance after starting from pole position.  Gagne also took advantage of the draft and took a well deserved third place, a testament to his perseverance after his miscue in the chicane.

Beach took fourth followed by Puerta, Huntley Nash and an excellent sixth place for Elena Myers on her Suzuki GSX-R600.  The first five riders were all on Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycles.

A great start to the 2010 season and for the AMA Pro SuperSport class, Friday is sure to see another exciting race on the high banks of Daytona International Speedway.  Highlights from both SuperSport races can be seen during the AMA Pro American SuperBike presented by National Guard broadcasts on SPEED this Saturday night.
